The Eastern Front of World War II was the largest and bloodiest conflict in the history of warfare. It is estimated that over twenty million Soviet civilians and soldiers lost their lives from 1941-45. The Germans also suffered major losses there, though exclusively military deaths and small by comparison at an estimated two million.
